| | 1 month in, I'm already at $2,600 in value | | by Summer Hull, Senior Director of Content | | | I've added a new credit card to my wallet that I think is getting overlooked more than it should, despite having a 100,000-point welcome bonus worth $1,900 by TPG's January 2026 valuations.
It's already delivered more than $2,600 in value in just the first month I've had it — so I wanted to tell you, my email best friends, all about it.
Late in 2025, I picked up the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card, which currently offers an impressive 100,000 bonus points after you spend $6,000 in the first three months from account opening. On its own, that's a six-figure welcome offer worth stopping the scroll for.
But what has really impressed me — and made this a true "sleeper hit" card — are some of the unique and fantastic perks, even beyond the bonus.
Citi ThankYou Rewards points have historically been overlooked by some, as they often relied heavily on international transfer partners — but you can now transfer points directly to American Airlines AAdvantage, making Citi the only issuer with that option.
That's a big deal, especially since American offers solid business-class award pricing starting at around 57,500 miles each way to Europe, not to mention some great values on domestic flights, too.
Then there are the card's credits — and they're refreshingly easy to use compared to some others. I've already used both, including maxing out the Splurge credit at Best Buy in late 2025 and already in early 2026. I've also booked a 2026 two-night stay at an on-property Disney World Value hotel via Citi Travel, where the $300 hotel credit covered nearly the entire cost.
That's before factoring in perks I haven't really used yet, like: - Four annual American Airlines Admirals Club passes
- $200 in Blacklane chauffeur credit
- Industry-leading earning rate of 6 points per dollar spent on dining on Friday and Saturday nights, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Sure, I paid a $595 annual fee — but even after just one month, I've come out well ahead, with $2,600 of value in hand, and more to come.
For travelers who want unique perks and credits, a rare path to points you can transfer to American Airlines, plus some American lounge access passes, this is one of the most underrated premium cards out there right now — and one you shouldn't miss out on while the welcome bonus is still at 100,000 points. | | | Posts in this newsletter contains references to products from one or more of our advertisers.
