| These seats are worthy of your miles | by Zach Griff, Senior reporter | | | This might not come as a surprise, but not all business-class (and first-class) seats are created equally. And unless you do your research before you book your flight, you might end up spending a lot of cash (or miles) on a disappointing product when there were much better options available.
That's one reason why I love my job. I get to fly all the hot new airline products to tell you which ones are worth the splurge, and which ones aren't.
Some of my recent favorites include:
American Airlines' new Flagship Suite. American recently introduced its long-awaited premium-focused Boeing 787 Dreamliner that's outfitted with a brand-new business-class product, dubbed the Flagship Suite and Flagship Suite Preferred. You can catch this jet flying to London from Chicago and (starting tomorrow) Philadelphia, and there are plenty of ways to redeem miles for it.
Etihad Airways’ new Airbus A321LR first class. Etihad, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, just debuted its first-ever premium single-aisle jet. It features both first- and business-class pods, and the jet will even be flying to Europe soon. And redeeming miles with Etihad isn't as hard as it might seem, thanks to transfer partners.
Japan Airlines' new business class. If you're crossing the Pacific, Japan Airlines has perhaps the swankiest business-class pods on the Airbus A350-1000. Travelers have been raving about these seats — sadly, I haven't been able to try them yet myself, but I'm eyeing a redemption with my American Airlines AAdvantage miles to make it happen soon.
Coming soon: United Airlines’ new Polaris Studios. While they're not yet flying, United will soon be introducing new Polaris business-class pods that pack in plenty of new features and the latest tech. The first-row pods, dubbed Polaris Studios, can even be converted into double beds. I, for one, will be saving some of my Air Canada Aeroplan points for a redemption in these pods once they start flying next year.
