In case you missed it, the Chase Sapphire Reserve®'s biggest welcome offer to date came to an end, and we fully expected it would revert to a lower welcome bonus, which is the usual course following a limited-time offer.
But apparently, these are not usual times … the number of points offered in the Chase Sapphire Reserve welcome bonus actually just went up!
Believe it or not, the Chase Sapphire Reserve is now offering a welcome bonus of 125,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $6,000 on the card in the first three months of card membership.
(For those playing along at home, the just-ended, limited-time bonus was for 100,000 bonus points and a special $500 Chase Travel℠ credit after hitting the spending requirement, which was also an excellent bonus.)
But if you are the kind of TPG reader who wants to maximize their points and stretch them for things like five nights at the all-inclusive Secrets St. Lucia resort, two one-way business-class flights to Europe on Air France for 60,000 Flying Blue miles each, or even 10 round-trip economy flights to London on Virgin Atlantic (plus taxes and fees), then more points in a welcome bonus is always a great thing.
TPG values 125,000 Chase points at just over $2,500 when used with transfer partners such as those mentioned above, which is a whole lot of travel from one card bonus. Plus, this card’s benefits carry over $2,700 in annual value, which can easily offset its premium-card-sized fee.
And while we hear just how wild this sounds, given an offer just ended, this new 125,000-point Chase Sapphire Reserve offer might have unexpectedly raised the bar and become our new favorite on a card that so many of us in the TPG offices have, love and use on a regular basis.
It's certainly the most valuable personal credit card welcome bonus that's publicly available right now.
But given how unexpected this bonus was in the first place, there's no telling how long it will be around. We recommend not waiting if you have been eyeing this card or waiting for a huge points bonus!
