|  | With even the best credit card welcome offers usually topping out around 200,000 points or miles, earning 1 million miles (or more) through an airline promotion is very appealing.
That appeal, plus the fact that I needed to book flights from Europe to both the U.S. and Brazil when the promotion launched, pushed me to complete the Turkish Airlines Fly Across Six Continents challenge for 1 million miles.
Booking these two trips as multicity itineraries let me secure four of the six continents. Then I flew through Istanbul to Cairo to claim Africa, and journeyed all the way to Melbourne, Australia, via Istanbul and Singapore to claim Oceania.
But the Turkish Airlines challenge was just one of several recent airline promotions. Last fall, we saw Scandinavian Airlines launch its popular EuroBonus challenge, which TPG's Chris Nelson completed. Meanwhile, JetBlue's 25 for 25 promotion is running through the end of the year, with a few TPG staffers aiming to complete the challenge.
Although we've seen several promotions recently, the concept of fun airline promotions isn't new. For example, I flew 18 flights in 16 days in 2019 to earn Oneworld Sapphire status for over two years through Malaysia Airlines' Triple Everything promotion. And many long-term travelers fondly remember the US Airways Grand Slam promotion from 2010.
I'll certainly be on the lookout for more fun airline promotions to complete. But even if completing an airline promotion isn't in your future, here are some articles you might find interesting:
