| | While having the right credit card is an obvious way to earn transferable points or miles, did you know there are now three awesome ways to earn these types of flexible currencies with no credit card required?
Rove Miles. We're seeing this burgeoning program offer up to a staggering 54 points per dollar spent on hotel bookings, as well as generous earnings on booking flights and online shopping, via its platform.
What's even better is that these miles transfer at a 1:1 ratio to popular partner programs like Air France-KLM Flying Blue and Qatar Airways Privilege Club — it even just added Lufthansa Miles & More.
The timing could not be better, because Lufthansa is currently offering select economy flights to Europe for just 88 miles (no, that's not a typo — 88 miles, not 88,000) plus about $208 in taxes and fees. And you can actually get in on that really easily, because right now you can earn 1,000 Rove Miles just by simply joining the program (for free).
Bilt Rewards. This program, famous for letting you earn points on rent payments (and soon on mortgages, too), doesn't require you to have its credit card. (Though there are certainly advantages to having one if you use the program a lot.)
With Bilt, you can link any existing credit or debit card in the Bilt app and earn Bilt Points (in addition to your card's points) on categories like dining (via the Bilt Neighborhood Dining network), ride-hailing services, pharmacy purchases and fitness partners.
Bilt points are highly valuable since they transfer to lots of popular partner programs like Atmos Rewards, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank and World of Hyatt.
Rakuten. Online shopaholics can now also earn Bilt points through Rakuten's shopping portal (regardless of which card you use for purchases) by opting to receive them instead of cash back. For the first six months of this new promotion, you'll receive a 1:1 ratio, meaning $10 cash back from Rakuten converts to 1,000 Bilt points.
Or you can choose to earn American Express Membership Rewards points instead, which transfer to 17 airline and three hotel partners.
You can even get a one-time, 5,000-point bonus just for signing up with this referral link by Dec. 31.
Remember: These three programs could be great additions to your transferable rewards strategy, regardless of what kind of card you want to use.
