| | Award travel doesn't have to mean burning hundreds of thousands of miles for a single flight. Many airline loyalty programs still offer incredible value if you know where to look. Fortunately, we've already done the hard work for you!
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club's easy-to-locate Saver awards can whisk you to London for as few as 6,000 Virgin points in economy, 10,500 in premium economy or 29,000 in lie-flat Upper Class (plus taxes and fees). I've flown all three cabins many times, and it's a proper full-service experience from start to finish.
Plus, if you have Chase Ultimate Rewards points, there's a 40% transfer bonus to Flying Club until Nov. 20 which could see you snoozing in business class across the Atlantic for just 21,000 Chase points.
Iberia Club is another gem. How does nonstop business class to Spain from cities like New York, Washington and Boston for just 40,500 Avios off-peak sound?
If you're dreaming of Japan, American Airlines AAdvantage is where you'll find the best deal. You can book Japan Airlines' lie-flat business class for as few as 60,000 AAdvantage miles.
Want award-winning luxury? Qatar Airways' Qsuite remains one of the world's top business-class experiences, and it’s still just 70,000 Avios each way from the U.S. to the Middle East – including the marathon 15-hour journeys from the West Coast.
We love Air France-KLM Flying Blue's monthly Promo Rewards too, which regularly slash award prices on select routes between North America and Europe by up to 25%.
Closer to home, you can fly domestically on American Airlines starting at only 4,500 points each way when you book with this recently rebooted program. And here's the secret to getting to Hawaii for only 10,000 miles each way on United Airlines.
If all these programs and partners are a bit of a puzzle, don't stress. You can transfer at least one credit card currency and/or Bilt Rewards Points to each program mentioned, so you might already have the points and miles needed to book these sweet spots and get the maximum value from your rewards.
