Lie-flat seats to Europe for just 54K points by Ben Smithson, Senior writer There's a fantastic new sweet spot to Europe on an airline you've probably never heard of (but should get acquainted with). You can now book flights to Germany on the swanky leisure airline Condor using JetBlue TrueBlue points. That means many East Coast departures to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in lie-flat business class cost just 54,000 JetBlue points plus minimal taxes and fees of under $20. Here's why this is a great way to redeem your points and miles: Lie-flat seats to Europe for fewer points: Business-class redemptions to Germany from Northeast gateways are now one of the best ways to cross the pond, lower than popular options from Aeroplan and Flying Blue and without the hefty surcharges of Virgin Atlantic. An impressive onboard experience: TPG's Eric Rosen recently flew Condor out of Los Angeles and "would recommend the airline’s business class without hesitation" thanks to the comfy seats, decent amenities, solid entertainment options and fantastic service. Quirkily impressive route network: In addition to major East Coast airports, Condor has a strong presence on the West Coast, including places like Portland, Oregon, and Anchorage, Alaska. Gateway to the Continent: Condor's U.S. flights all land in Frankfurt, a huge aviation hub, making it easy to tack on a cheap cash ticket or short award flight to nearly anywhere in Europe. And here's the kicker: It's very easy to come up with JetBlue points thanks to the airline’s several credit card transfer partners. Citi ThankYou Rewards points and Chase Ultimate Rewards points each transfer at a 1:1 ratio to JetBlue TrueBlue (and with occasional transfer bonuses), and you can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points and Capital One miles at a lower rate.
